Berlin Air Lift Related Photos

This collection features previously unpublished photographs from the bandleader’s personal archive, reflecting his lifelong passion for the Berlin Airlift. It also includes images of friends from the American postwar reenactment community meeting in Normandy, France, along with some of his photographs of eyewitnesses to Operation Vittles, the historic Berlin Airlift of 1948–49, e.g. "The Candy Bomber" Col. Gail Halverson (RIP) and "The Candy Girl" Vera Mitchrich (RIP).
